Jaka jest różnica pomiędzy "until" a "up to sth"?

tak jak w nazwie tematu jaka jest różnica. Wyczuwam subtelną różnicę, na zasadzie że until używamy w czynnościach a up to sth bardziej pasuje do czasu przeszłego, że coś działo się/ było do pewnego czasu/ daty/ wydarzenia. Nie mniej prosiłbym o podanie jakichś przykładów, małą podpowiedź jeśli jest to możliwe ;)
