Czy dobrze rozumiem, że "lots of" stosujemy z rzeczownikami policzalnymi, natomiast "a lot of" - z niepoliczalnymi?

W takiej sytuacji istnieje tu błąd w programie eTutor - powinno w obu przypadkach akceptować odpowiedzi np. w zdaniu: there are lots of dogs in the garden można również powiedzieć: there are a lot of dogs in the garden lub: there are many dogs in the garden. Czy dobrze kombinuję?
